Morning round up: Thin people are better for the environment

- Another reason to shed those extra pounds? UK scientists say larger people contribute to global warming.

- While residents of Crestwood are angry about their government's subterfuge in providing toxic-tainted water, Gov. Pat Quinn is ordering an inquiry into why the EPA didn't stop the city from providing the water.

- Mental health advocates in Illinois are worried the state's budget will mean fewer services for the mentally ill.

Good journalism involves checking information, not just parroting back what the source says. The idea that fat people cause global warming is absurd and it's ridiculous that it's being reported as news. It's bad science and bad journalism to report it as fact. The same researchers presented the same flawed information two years ago: http://junkfoodscience.blogspot.com/2007/07/blame-fat-people.html

Thanks for sharing the link, Max. The link we shared did not reference the previous study, as stories about studies are apt to do. It's definitely a flaw in these types of stories.
